Chris Johnson has been actively involved in the research program of the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at KU. His primary focus has been the management of the Linguistic Atlas of Kansas German Dialects in conjunction with the digital humanities initiative at KU.
Research, teaching and service:
Professor Keel teaches courses on German settlements and dialects in Kansas with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and collaborates with KU ScholarWorks on “German Dialect Recordings from Kansas and Missouri.” He edits the Yearbook of German-American Studies and chairs Sister Cities Lawrence.

Professor Winder McConnell specializes in medieval German literature.
Teaching interests: Jim Morrison is interested in the teaching of German language, history and culture as well as evaluation of German language proficiency levels. More specifically, he is interested in German for the professions, the German business culture and the Social Market Economy.
Professor Perelmutter teaches Yiddish language and is a specialist in Yiddish and Slavic linguistics and folklore.

Dr. Straughn is Andrew W. Mellon Director of Academic Programs at the Spencer Museum of Art. Her doctoral dissertation at the University of Chicago examined Jewish art and expressionism in early twentieth-century Germany.
